13 september 2018 vond de eerste PhD-dag plaats. Deze dag werd georganiseerd om de jonge wetenschappers de kans te geven op informele wijze hun onderzoek, ideeën en vragen te delen. Kennis en verworven inzichten tussen de preklinische en klinische onderzoekers werden uitgewisseld, en het was inspirerend om te zien hoe de individuele onderzoekers gezamenlijk bijdragen aan de zoektocht naar de oorsprong van verergering van atriumfibrilleren. Daarnaast bood het een uitgelezen kans om als groep nader tot elkaar te komen, want leren doe je niet alleen op het lab en in de kliniek, maar ook van elkaar. De PhD dag is een terugkerend evenement.
